Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The image is processed entirely in your browser using the jsQR library. Nothing leaves your device.
What image formats are supported?
Any format your browser can display: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, and HEIC (on supported browsers).
Why did the scan fail?
The QR code may be blurry, too small, rotated beyond 45°, or partially obscured. Try a clearer, higher-resolution image.
Can I scan a QR code from my screen?
Yes — take a screenshot, save it, and upload it here. Screen captures work well as long as the QR is clearly visible.
Does it work with all QR code types?
It decodes standard QR Code (ISO 18004). Micro QR and proprietary variants like Aztec or DataMatrix are not supported.
Can I use this on mobile?
Yes — upload a photo from your camera roll directly. Note that your phone's native camera app can also scan QR codes directly.
