Common use cases

New website launch

Generate all favicon sizes needed for browsers, bookmarks, and PWA manifests before going live.

Rebranding

Regenerate favicons from your new logo without needing a designer or Photoshop.

PWA manifest icons

Generate icon variants at multiple sizes for the web app manifest file (manifest.webmanifest).

Quick testing

Generate a temporary favicon for a staging site to differentiate it from production in browser tabs.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes should I generate?

16×16 is the standard browser tab favicon. 32×32 is used by some browsers for high-DPI displays. 48×48 is Windows taskbar. 64×64 is used by some apps. For modern PWAs, also generate 192×192 and 512×512.

Should I use a PNG or ICO file?

Modern browsers support PNG favicons. ICO files (which can bundle multiple sizes) are still needed for some legacy browsers and Windows pinned shortcuts. This tool generates PNG files.

What image type works best?

A square SVG or high-resolution PNG logo works best. Rectangular images will be letterboxed. Very complex images may not be readable at 16×16.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The Canvas API reads and resizes your image entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to any server.
